The Sultan as The Sultan. Vince Russo Storyline Edit. Add content advisory. Did you know Edit. Quotes Vince McMahon : [Introducing the Attitude Era] It has been said that anything can happen here in the World Wrestling Federation, but now more than ever truer words have never been spoken. User reviews 1 Review. Top review. I'm ready. This episode is the "official" start of the Attitude Era, mostly because of Vince McMahon's "Cure for the Common Show" promo, although there had been plenty of "attitude" in the episodes in the weeks prior to this, particularly in the edgy antics of D-Generation X, the New Age Outlaws and the Artist Formerly Known as Goldust.
The show opens with Michael Cole interviewing the Undertaker. The first match is Taka Michinoku versus Jerry Lawler. The Rock cuts a promo on Steve Austin. Dude Love faces Jesse James. Mark Henry squashes the Brooklyn Brawler.
Vince McMahon calls out Owen Hart. Big E said Rollins' loss to Edge sent him to the back of the line, but Rollins continued to push for a title shot as soon as possible before Rey Mysterio, Finn Balor and Kevin Owens all entered the mix to tout their own accomplishments in a bid for a title shot. After a brawl briefly broke out between the potential title challengers, Sonya Deville announced the four would battle in a fatal four-way ladder match to crown a No.
Seth Rollins def. The match saw the expected level of chaos, with ladders coming into play early and often.
The end stretch saw Mysterio put through a table before Rollins sent Owens flying through a ladder suspended between the ring and the announce table. Rollins then cut off Balor as he was attempting to ascend a ladder, driving him to the floor and hitting a stomp. With the way cleared, Rollins climbed a ladder in the center of the ring to grab the contract and secure the next shot at Big E's WWE championship.
There are no complaints to really be had with a ladder match being given away on weekly television. That's a real rarity and the four men in the match delivered the type of chaos you expect. Rollins is a fine challenger but did actually need a big win to come off as a legitimate challenger after losing to Edge four days earlier at Crown Jewel.
Rollins also deserves a ton of credit for going through a Hell in a Cell and ladder match in a four-day stretch. That's a lot of punishment to take in such a short amount of time.
Grade: A-. WWERaw pic. The girl in the promo appears to be more of a figment of the boy's imagination than a real person. This was my initial guess after seeing the first promo, but I'm beginning to doubt it.
The maple leaf and the X over "Chris" could fit Captain Charisma. He could be taking back what is his - The World Heavyweight title. All he needs is one more match.
Though the promo doesn't really fit him, he could be prepared to unleash his dark side to the world. Highly unlikely considering how he's been shooting on the WWE so often, but still worth a mention. This is just one of those names you have to throw out there. Considering the Laurinaitis storyline is going on with Punk, I kind of doubt it. It's unlikely, but the promo has a bit of a dark ECW feel.
The sheer creep factor of the video definitely lends itself to 'Taker. He is obviously a "familiar force," and because he is more associated with SmackDown than he is RAW , the thing which he would claim as his could very well be the World Heavyweight Title. Perhaps a showdown between Mark Henry and Undertaker is on the horizon? Although it's hard to say what with Henry's kayfabe ankle injury. Furthermore, during last night's broadcast an obvious Kane promo was aired that has generated some buzz about the possibility of the return of masked Kane.
