Why is standby not an option

You haven't stated your OS, service pack level or computer model and I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "reinstalled by hardware using the backup disk". However, assuming XP, if you did a complete format and clean reinstall of your OS from a regular Windows XP OS installation disk did you download and install all of the latest drivers for your system from Dell including the chipset drivers?.
If you haven't do so and this will probably take care of it. Regards, Erronius. I have a Inspiron laptop. I have reinstalled Windows XP and functions are still not working. Also, there isn't an Standby option in my Power Management. Click on the Support tab above, go to Drivers and Downloads, enter your Service Tag or computer model and OS, find the latest chipset dirvers for your system, donwload them and install them.
See if that does it. You'll need to install the correct drivers for your video card as well. Without that, Windows won't go into Standby or Hibernate. Original Title: Win Prof. How to get "Hibernate" to show? Of course, the other start box is there with pgms to select. So, how to get Hibernate, Sleep and any other options to show up that should be there?

I have the same question 9. There can be several reasons behind the issue — and, thus, several solutions.
This fix is available for all versions of Windows 10 and is not as complicated as it may seem. If the sleep option is back in the Power menu — congratulations!
If, on the other hand, the sleep option is still missing from the menu, proceed to the next step. Note that this solution is only available for Windows 10 Pro and Windows 10 Enterprise. There are several ways to do that. First, you can do this automatically. Then, you will need to manually update the driver in your system. While this can be absolutely done, if you are updating your drivers for the first time, the whole process may seem overwhelming. Auslogics Driver Updater diagnoses driver issues and lets you update old drivers all at once or one at a time to get your PC running smoother.
Are any other key options missing from your Power menu in Windows 10?
